So… correct me if I’m wrong, but Peter Grant would beat Iron Man in battle by accident. (It’s the only thing I thought about while watching Infinity War)
I haven’t seen Infinity War and I don’t know much Iron Man except that he’s some rich white genius type dude.
But Peter’s clever, innovative and resourceful, good at thinking on his feet, and using magic in new and creative ways. I don’t understand why they would be fighting, but if it came down it? Personally, I don’t think Peter would win by accident. (Maybe he’d need a little luck on his side, but I think it’s his skills and quick thinking that would get the job done).
Actually, the Iron Man suit is high tech, right? Peter could probably just take the suit out of play with a werelight. He could probably calculate the power and proximity necessary to take out the suit from a distance without hurting anyone (i.e. we want it to stop working, not explode) and without being detected. He could win this battle before it’s even started, and without any civilians being injured in the process.
(The real miracle is that there’s no significant property damage. Ok, yes, there was a little fire–but in the grand scheme of things…)
I like to think Peter wouldn’t actually have to get to the point of taking out the suit entirely (though he could and would do it if he had to) – he’d just treat it as a mundane disturbance-of-the-peace issue, cite the relevant acts, and eventually Tony would be so confused he’d agree to stop and talk because there’s a policeman who just thinks he’s going to arrest him and is weirdly confident about his ability to do so and what is going on????
(The scenario where I find it plausible that Peter fries the suit by accident is when he goes in to arrest someone without knowing Iron Man is already there, at which point he’s mildly apologetic but also quite firm about the fact that this is his city and has Iron Man heard of extradition)
#lbr for a second: Peter DEEPLY disapproves of superheroes as a real-world concept #he is not impressed by the arguments of ANYBODY on either side of Civil War (via @sixth-light)
Also imagine that in the background Nightingale is catching up with Steve and Bucky, who are asking a lot of questions like “but are you sure you weren’t frozen at any point?” and Beverley is talking deity shop with Thor and Valkyrie. Abigail also wants to talk to Thor…to see if he has Jane’s contact details because she has some questions about the intersection of physics and magic.
