I got a polling text recently from the Democratic candidate for state senate in my district.

All over her website, every single page, she makes sure to mention her religious beliefs and affiliations.

They asked me if I had any concerns.

“What is she going to do to protect the secular institutions of our state and promote community building outside of churches?”

The pollster did not answer me for several minutes.

“I will ask,” he said, eventually.

Never forget that the original motto of the United States of America was “E Pluribus Unum: From Many, One.”

It was changed to “In God We Trust” during the Red Scare of the 1950s, and Christofascism in this country has never stopped advancing since. There are multiple states where it is illegal to hold public office as an admitted atheist.
