One thing that has changed with how I view media is I no longer have any trust for the scenes where the villain is secretly recorded and broadcasted, showing their evil plan for all to hear, and then everyone immediately turns on them.

In reality at least half the villain’s base would be like “ok but they didn’t ACTUALLY mean it, clearly fake”

Or, “He didn’t really say that it was all staged.”

“It was just locker room talk!”

Hey now, only SOME of their followers would try to call it fake. MOST of them would instead just embrace and support the evil plan wholeheartedly.

If Batman Returns was made today, the people of Gotham would probably applaud Oswald Cobblepott’s “I played this stinking city like a harp from hell!” rant that Batman recorded as proof that he Doesn’t Talk Like a Politician

It did however correctly predict that rich straight white men will happily endorse something they found covered in filth in a sewer for political office if they think that it will help them stay rich and pursue their Evil Hateful Agenda so in some ways it’s still very accurate
