I get asked for this guide a lot. The library has so much to offer you and it’s almost always free (and if it isn’t, it’s because you’re not paying for libraries in your taxes). As a librarian, I am, of course, biased, but I believe the library is the last true democratic institution, created solely for all people and it’s quickly becoming one of the few places you can go without spending money.
