Oscar probably confused the Hell out of a lot of people who assume he is Jewish based on his shortened/stage name, between this joke and his ‘guys I’m super Latino’ moment.

a) He’s also patrilineally ethnically Jewish, although he was raised Evangelical and only marginally identifies as Jewish – but it IS why he chose Isaac as his stage name, and why it’s his middle name. He’s talked about it in interviews a couple of times. He has Jewish heritage and purposely has a stage name/real middle name that reflect that.

Because….

b) There are Latinx Jews. There are tens of thousands (if not a million or two?) of Latinx Jews. Both cultures are diasporic and not bound by race or nationality. C’mon.  

c) BUT ANYWAY, all the good guys in Star Wars have always been Space Jews! It’s… the not-suble flip side of the unsubtle villains ubsubtly being Space Nazis… and the whole… plotline…
